Too Elusive
Profile

Too Elusive is the flagship of the renowned English "Southern Ocean Shipyard."

This cutter-rigged ketch, based on a Jon Bannenberg design, was commissioned as the "Shirley B" in 1985. With her flag blue hull, Too Elusive is designed for round the world racing and has sailed around the world. She is an easily driven boat with a proven record, achieving speeds in excess of 12 knots.

Tasteful interiors by Jon Bannenburg in ash wood veneer with newly fitted crisp, clean ivory padded headliners throughout are accented by new brightly covered soft furnishings.

Too Elusive sails out of Camden, Maine in the summer, spending much of the time racing. From December to May, she sails out of the US Virgin Islands and is available for charter around the Caribbean, carrying up to six passengers and specializing in family trips. (view sample menu)

Her well-equipped full-width master cabin aft has its own ensuite bathroom, a queen size bed, a desk, a two-seater sofa and a spacious closet. The two guest cabins forward each offer a double bed and ensuite bathroom and two attractive opening hatches that let light and air pour through. One guest cabin is also fitted with a fold-down Pullman berth. Each of the cabins is equipped with its own control to the new air conditioning system, as well as its own TV and DVD player. The yacht has a DVD library in excess of 500 movies. Three satellite phones are also available on board, along with a computer and internet access.

The attractive, raised saloon has a built-in bar and entertainment center with the TV and DVD player cleverly concealed behind the saloon settee. Three steps aft of the saloon is the dining area where two hand-painted wooden tables can join together to comfortably seat six guests. Opening side windows and three hatches give cool and welcoming breezes while at anchor or at sea.

The yacht has a spacious, well-laid-out and newly equipped galley - excellent for both long passages or entertaining in port. The engine room and the hydraulic generator are situated along side the galley. Machinery, such as the air conditioning system and the watermaker, are located under the saloon floor in carefully sound-insulated compartments. The generator forward is also well insulated with access through a watertight bulkhead door forward from the crew quarters. A new generator is also located in the bow.

Recent improvements include a new finish on the deck, topsides and mast, all new soft furnishings and new decor, including bedding, towels and tableware.
